Are you standing in the No or the NEW OPPORTUNITY?

We all go through experiences that we remember as hurt or disappointment. Disappointment often arises from unmet expectations, particularly when they stem from trust in someone. Does this resonate with you?

Let me share a memory I have about an expectation I had of someone I trusted. I confided in my “friend” about my desire to transition from working behind the chair, doing hair, to delving into Group Coaching and Public Speaking. I was motivated to share this because she had mentioned her own program and even had future dates lined up for it. I expressed my excitement about the potential synergy and what I could contribute. In response, she instructed me to fill out forms for each type of program title. Filled with hope, I promptly completed the forms and sent them back, eagerly awaiting further guidance and confirmation of my participation.

Two months passed, and I decided to inquire about my involvement. To my surprise, I was informed that I hadn’t provided enough information. My immediate reaction was one of disappointment, and I couldn’t help but express my frustration, remarking that a simple phone call or text would have sufficed for clarification. The silence on her end spoke volumes, conveying a sense of embarrassment. Strangely, there was no attempt to rectify the situation, not even an apology. In that moment, I realized I needed to release my grip on the situation. I needed to let go of my insistence on being right about how she should have provided direction and notification. It became clear to me that she had her own agenda, one that didn’t align with my aspirations.

Reflecting on this experience, I recognize that it kept me tethered to my No rather than embracing the NEW OPPORTUNITY before me.

I’ve learned that not everyone will say yes, not even those we consider friends. What we have to offer is meant for the right audience—the audience of our NEW OPPORTUNITY.

In an abundance mindset, there’s ample opportunity available. There are enough chances to KEEP IT MOVING towards achieving our YES and occupying the space in the world where we belong.
